MIX, MINGLE, BLEND, MERGE, COALESCE, AMALGAMATE, FUSE; they all mean to combine into a more or less uniform whole. I particularly like amalgamate, which implies the forming of a close union without complete loss of individual identities. Differences spark conflict, but they also allow us to complement and challenge each other in ways that just make life better. I marvel at how God brought us together and is making us what we are today - so different and yet a beautifully "amalgamated" family.

Road Trip Day 7 - D.C.
Today we go to D.C. in Maryland. It was a short drive through Delaware to a couple homes (tall skinny houses) owned by the 1st SDA of D.C. next door. The neighborhood is a little rough, with interesting aromas wafting about, but the Police Station is right across the street. J.J. was feeling pretty lousy - coming down with a cold, so he and I stayed back while the rest of the group went down to see the National Mall all lit up at night. After a fiasco of sorts dividing food and cooking dinner, John Perry led the group the few blocks walk to the Metro (Subway). A terrific thunder storm hit, with lightning and downpours and the group came back drenched. Here are some of Katherine's pictures:
